Addison Whitney Wins Three American Graphic Design Awards

Charlotte, NC (September 24, 2013) – Addison Whitney has won three American Graphic Design Awards from Graphic Design USA (GDUSA). With more than 8,000 entries from around the country, only 15 percent were recognized with a Certificate of Excellence. Addison Whitney received certificates in three separate categories: Brochure and Collateral; Logos, Trademarks and Symbols; and Packaging.

“It’s great to be recognized for work we put so much passion into,” said Brannon Cashion, Addison Whitney global president. “These three projects reflect our diverse design capabilities and showcase our talented visual team’s creativity. These honors further reinforce our status as an industry-leading branding firm.”

This is Addison Whitney’s second award for its work on Campbell Alliance’s recruitment materials. Campbell Alliance is a management consulting company providing services to pharmaceutical and biotech organizations. We created a system of line illustrations from seed to fruit, representing the career path. The overall design was a fresh and youthful translation of Campbell Alliance's brand characteristics. Currently, these materials are being given out at career fairs and other recruitment events.

The Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse logo work is for Carnival Cruise Lines’ onboard steakhouse dining experience. The steakhouse is Carnival’s way of elevating an already special vacation for couples, families and friends. The Fahrenheit 555 logo is inspired by a cast iron steak brander seen in higher-end steakhouses. The 555 icon is utilized throughout the restaurant as an accent to plates, silverware, etc. The bold typeface speaks to the flavor of each cut of meat the patrons will enjoy.

The packaging award is for our work on the probiotics Active D’Lites ice cream and candy bar lines. We created a modern, fresh visual brand strategy featuring whimsical multi-colored bubbles that were introduced as a differentiator between flavors – a strategy that is extended through the portfolio. These products can be found on grocery shelves across the U.S.

For five decades, Graphic Design USA has sponsored design competitions that spotlight areas of excellence and opportunity for creative professionals. GDUSA’s American Graphic Design Awards is the biggest and broadest of these and open to everyone in the community: advertising agencies, graphic design firms, corporations, associations, universities, government, publishers and more. It honors outstanding work of all kinds and across all media.
